Latin studies integrated with drawing and fine art.
An introductory course or supplement to Latin for beginner students who seek to improve their drawing skills while also advancing their Latin studies. Students will create their own Latin Dictionary in pictures by drawing along using the first picture book for children by John Amos. Together we will learn the Latin words for common things, and utilize the skills taught in our Primary Drawing Courses such as finding shapes, recognizing relationship between lines and subjects, and drawing from observation. This course is self paced and it is expected that students take about 20 minutes per drawing as well as continue to study their Latin throughout the week. Students will submit their drawings upon completion for personalized human feedback. "The World of Things Obvious to the Senses Drawn in Pictures" or the "Orbis Sensualium Pictus" is the spine for both text and illustrations for this course. This classical work paired with how-to videos and individual feed back make this course an excellent choice for families seeking a full or part time Latin curriculum and ways to reinforce formal art studies in the classical tradition.
