Finding the Fruit of the Classical Liberal Arts

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Find clear answers about curriculum, course materials, purchases, downloads, and course-page access.

What age are your courses for?

Our course selection is ever growing. The intended age for each course can be found in the course description.

Can I use the online drawing class offline?

Yes. You can use our classical drawing program offline. If a course does not currently have an offline version and you are interested, please contact us and we will prioritize publishing that course in an offline format.

Will my child be a better artist after a course?

Fruit of the Arts uses the “rules of art” to help students build a toolbox they can draw from. The success of each student will vary, but we believe that when given these tools, children’s art improves and they become more confident in turning the ideas in their heads into visual symbols on paper.

How long is each course?

The time needed to complete each course varies, but all courses are self-paced.

Do you offer refunds?

In general, no. This work is a labor of love born out of a passion for art education in service of God and His Church, as well as an effort to restore the culture’s appreciation for what is good, beautiful, pure, and true. Your satisfaction is deeply important to us, however. Please contact us with any concerns and we will try to amend the situation.

Is this a Catholic homeschool curriculum?

Yes. Fruit of the Arts offers classical art education in service of Catholic education, rooted in the classical tradition. You do not need to be Catholic to use this program; however, some programs include Aristotelian philosophy, the Lives of the Saints, and the Latin language, and all of our programs joyfully stem from a Christ-centered worldview.

Are lessons just crafts?

Our drawing lessons are not craft-based. The teaching philosophy emphasizes rules, elements, observation, logic, beauty, and practice so students learn art as a serious subject rooted in the seven classical liberal arts and leading to repeatable results. Craft-based courses and products are labeled as such.

What kind of student is this for?

The curriculum is for homeschool families and students who want art taught in union with the seven classical liberal arts. Review the course catalog or contact Fruit of the Arts for help choosing the best starting point. Contact us for classroom or co-op pricing and permissions.

I am a teacher. Can I buy a course and use it with my class?

Yes, but please contact us for group pricing. Our products are specifically priced for homeschool families to make art education affordable and accessible.

Do you offer discounts?

Occasionally. Join our email list for general sales and promotions. If you are passionate about classical art for your child and the price is an impediment to study, please contact us.

What does your logo mean?

Our logo pictures grapes, with seven standing out from the others. These seven grapes represent the seven classical liberal arts. The grapes are the fruit and reward of hard work, study, and time devoted to knowing, loving, and serving God. The vine is Jesus Christ our Lord and features the wood of the cross, which is the way of the Christian life.

What does your name mean?

Our name was chosen in defense of a traditional classical education. “Fruit of the Arts” has three intended meanings. First, fine and beautiful art is a fruit of—and is formed in union with—the seven classical liberal arts. Culture itself is a fruit of classical education, and as education of the whole person declines, so do art and music. Second, the seven liberal arts bring forth fruit. Art, historically studied through geometry in the quadrivium, belongs within this ordered course of study and helps students learn to draw and see rightly. Third, studying in this manner bears spiritual fruit. Through study and hard work we practice patience, self-control, faithfulness, gentleness, generosity, kindness, humility, and joy. Talent is not merely something that comes easily to an individual; it is often obtained through intentional practice.
